After breakfast, a private guide and vehicle will take you around some of the most important heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley. You will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal palace complex with historic temples and courtyards, followed by Swayambhunath, also called the Monkey Temple, a hilltop stupa with wide views over the city. In the afternoon, you will visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples in the world, and Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in Nepal.

In the evening, return to the hotel to prepare your gear for the trek. Our team will check your duffel bag, sleeping bag, down jacket, and other equipment, and answer any last questions before you fly to Lukla the next morning.

Early in the morning, you will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. During peak trekking months (March, April, May, October, and November), this flight may operate from Manthali (Ramechhap) instead, about a 4 to 5 hour drive from Kathmandu, because of air traffic rules at Kathmandu airport. Our team will confirm your exact flight routing in advance.

After landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, you will meet your porters and trekking crew over breakfast. From here, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River downhill through small villages such as Chaurikharka and Ghat before reaching Phakding, a peaceful riverside village where you will spend the night.

From Phakding, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, crossing it several times on suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags, including the Hillary Suspension Bridge near Namche. After entering Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale, where your permits will be checked, the trail climbs steeply through pine forest.

If the weather is clear, you will get your first distant view of Mount Everest along this climb. The trail continues up to Namche Bazaar, the largest village in the Khumbu region and known as the gateway to Everest, where you will stay for two nights.

Today is set aside for acclimatization, but instead of resting all day, you will hike to Everest View Hotel, one of the best viewpoints in the region for seeing Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam together. Many trekkers stop here for tea or coffee while enjoying the view.

From Everest View Hotel, the trail continues to Khumjung, a traditional Sherpa village with a monastery said to hold a yeti scalp relic, and a school originally built with support from Sir Edmund Hillary's foundation. After exploring Khumjung, you will walk back down to Namche Bazaar for your second night, giving your body more time to adjust to the altitude.

Leaving Namche Bazaar, the trail follows a high path along the hillside with clear views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku for much of the walk. The path then drops down to Phunki Tenga, a small village beside the river where you will stop for lunch.

After lunch, a steep climb through forest leads up to Tengboche, home to the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. Inside Tengboche Monastery, you can see detailed wall paintings, a large statue of Buddha, and instruments used by the monks during ceremonies. If the timing works out, you can also watch the daily afternoon prayer session.

From Tengboche, the trail descends through rhododendron forest before climbing again into the Imja Valley. Along the way, you will pass through Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa villages in the Khumbu region, known for its old monastery.

As the trail continues to climb, the landscape becomes wider and more open, with close views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Island Peak. By the afternoon, you will reach Dingboche, a high farming village with stone walls around small fields, where you will stay for two nights.

This is your second acclimatization day, and it includes an optional hike up to Nangkartshang viewpoint, a ridge just above Dingboche. The hike takes about 2 to 3 hours round trip and offers wide views of Ama Dablam, Makalu, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu, making it one of the best viewpoints along the whole trek.

If you prefer a shorter walk, you can also explore Dingboche village itself or take an easier stroll toward the nearby Chhukung Valley. Either way, the goal of the day is to gain some altitude on foot and then come back down to sleep at Dingboche, which helps your body prepare for the higher altitudes ahead.

From Dingboche, the trail climbs along the side of the Khumbu Glacier valley, with the terrain becoming rockier and more barren the higher you go. Along the way, you will pass a series of stone memorials built for climbers who lost their lives on nearby peaks, including Everest.

Lobuche itself is a small group of lodges rather than a full village, but it is a welcome stop after a demanding day on the trail. Please note that at this altitude, lodge choices are limited, so while we book the best available premium lodge, a dedicated luxury-grade lodge is not always available here.

This is one of the biggest days of the trek. From Lobuche, the trail continues along the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep, a small, wind-swept outpost that is the last stop before Base Camp. After dropping your bags at the lodge, you will continue on foot to Everest Base Camp itself.

At Everest Base Camp, 5,364 m above sea level, you are as close to the summit of Mount Everest as you can get without climbing gear, with the Khumbu Icefall in clear view ahead of you. After spending time at Base Camp, you will walk back to Gorak Shep for the night.

Before sunrise, you will leave Gorak Shep for the climb up to Kala Patthar, the best viewpoint in the entire region at 5,555 m. From the top, you can watch the sun rise over Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding peaks, a view that most trekkers remember as the highlight of the trip.

After coming back down to Gorak Shep, you will board a scenic helicopter flight directly to Lukla. This replaces two to three days of walking back down the valley and gives you sweeping aerial views of the glacier, the high peaks, and the villages you passed through on foot.

A morning flight takes you from Lukla back to Kathmandu, which marks the end of the trekking part of your trip. On arrival, a private vehicle will transfer you to your luxury hotel.

The rest of the day is free. This is a good time to rest, book a spa treatment, or simply relax after nearly two weeks in the mountains. Our staff can help arrange anything you would like to do in the evening.

Today is free for you to spend as you like. You can go shopping in Thamel, Kathmandu's main tourist area known for gear shops, souvenirs, and cafes, book a spa session, or revisit any of the sightseeing spots from Day 2, such as Boudhanath Stupa or Swayambhunath, if you would like a second look.

In the evening, the group will gather for a farewell dinner at a fine restaurant in Kathmandu to celebrate the completion of the trek and share memories from the trail.

After breakfast, a private vehicle will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport in time for your international departure flight. One of our representatives will accompany you to the terminal to make sure your check-in goes smoothly.
