The man behind Destination Holiday Treks is Furtemba Sherpa, a legendary mountain guide whose life has been shaped by the Himalayas. Born and raised in the shadow of the world’s highest peaks, Furtemba’s journey is a true story of dedication, resilience, and passion for the mountains.
Like many Sherpas, Furtemba never had the opportunity to attend formal school. Instead, the Himalayas became his classroom. He began his career humbly as a porter, carrying heavy loads along rugged trails. Through nearly 18+ years of hands-on experience in the Nepal Himalaya, he steadily grew into every role in the mountain world — porter, kitchen staff, sardar (lead guide), and professional climbing guide.
His deep understanding of mountain life, safety, and teamwork earned him respect from fellow crew members and the trust of international clients. Furtemba is known for his calm leadership, strong work ethic, and genuine care for both guests and staff — qualities that define the heart of Destination Holiday Treks.
As a high-altitude climber, Furtemba Sherpa has achieved
